Robert James (Roy) Hatch, 80, of Oakville, passed away on Wednesday, February 17th, 2021.

Roy was born on January 17th, 1941 to George and Florence (Boyle) Hatch in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

After graduation, he worked in the Royal Ulster Constabulary and then met his soulmate, Loretta (McGuigan) in 1967 and they wed on April 2nd, 1969. Shortly after they married, the newlyweds emigrated to Canada and Roy worked as an underwriter for many years at Canada Life in Toronto.

Roy was a kind and humble man, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. Roy was the true definition of a gentleman. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Brenda and her husband Rob, and Natasha and her husband Darren and was an integral part of their lives. Roy was Papa to his adoring grandchildren, Caitlin, Jessica, Emma and James. He was also a caring homestay father to Tony, Daniel and Paul from Korea while they studied in Canada. He will be forever missed by his family and friends, and his legacy will live on.

Roy was also a dedicated volunteer at the Oakville Hospital and enjoyed a game of golf, tennis and badminton in his younger years. He especially enjoyed his time with family and friends on the beach and at his summer home in Crystal Beach. Roy loved to watch the English Premier League soccer matches, especially Chelsea, and was his daughters’ and grandchildren’s biggest fan on the sidelines and on the bleachers.

Anyone who knew Roy knew that he was the most loving husband, father, papa, uncle, brother and friend anyone could ask for. Roy was predeceased by his brother David Hatch and his wife Jocelyn Hatch, sister Harriet Caters and her husband Nathaniel Caters and sister Rota Thornbury. He is survived by his brother in law, Ronald Thornbury, cousin, William and many family members in America, Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, Korea, and Taiwan.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Roy’s life will occur at a future time. In Roy’s memory, donations may be made to Oakville Hospital Volunteer Association.

Hi Shawn,
Bruce is an excellent ambassador for your business.  My sister and Dad were so pleased to connect with him today after their initial meeting at Carpenter Hospice.  They (and I) have been so pleased and relieved at how smoothly everything was handled.
Thank you again for everything you have done for our family. "
